The Dev Team has posted a very important update to the recent firmware that was released yesterday. In short: * If you own a first generation (2G iPhone), no matter what you do now, you dont have to worry, the next PwnageTool will get you where you want even if it you prematurely updated. 2G is completely pwned at every conceivable level and youll always be OK. But if you own a 3G iPhone and are looking for unlock in the near future, dont use Apples update yet! * If your 3G iPhone is on a regular contract and you always plan to be with the carrier then you can update but you will lose the jailbreak and access to third party (non AppStore) applications. * If your 3G iPhone is not on a regular contract and you plan to use it on an alternative network to the carrier that supplied it then do not update unless you do it with the impending PwnageTool update. * PwnageTool v2.0.1 does not work with version 2.0.1 of the iPhone or iPod update from Apple * We will release an update to PwnageTool when the testing has been completed and all applied changes have been checked for safety.
There you have it! Be careful what you do and always check to see if you can update!
If you did update and hope for an unlock in the future, need not be worried....yet.

I did update the 2.0.1 today and I regret
on that. As I just notice that I can't jailbreak
now ! Also after I update the 2.0.1 and my
iTunes keep show out a error code.
So don't update the 2.0.1 !
That is good advice but I am just wondering if the Pwnage folks have gotten their hands on the unlocked iPhone 3G. I am from Hong Kong and the iPhone 3G sold here is unlocked, once activated by the current exclusive provider. I can use the iPhone with any SIM card and it will work and firmware upgrades are not a problem...except, of course, I want it jailbroken for Customize so no upgrade for me for now.
