So I believe the term "I live among idiots" has a whole new meaning to it now. 8 people, yes 8 people, purchased the USD$999.99 app. The app that does absolutely nothing and gives you a mantra for "success." You would think that for 999.99 it would unlock the iPhone, provide extra battery life, AND do your work for you. But no, just a mantra.
But Apple couldn't pull it down before curious aristocrats -- eight of them -- had purchased it. Six people from the United States, one from Germany and one from France dropped a grand for the gem in the first 24 hours it was available, Heinrich said. That's $5,600 in revenue for Heinrich and $2,400 for Apple, which collects 30% of each sale for "store upkeep."
You could see the money going somewhere better now couldn't you?
Tara,
My bet is that for the people with the disposible income and the right personality to want something like this, Apple pulling it will make them feel like it is even more valuable, because it will give the app an extra level of exclusivity that it was lacking even at $999. Something tells me none of the purchasers are gong to really mind.
Apple must cancel these transaction and refund in full because it was purchased through APP. Apple made a mistake to put this application in its APP store. Now Apple should take higher road and refund.
Many months ago I saw a web site where every it was for $1.00, I placed a few order and the transactions were canceled by vendor because it was due to errors.
Federal Trade Commission can intervene if the purchaser shall file a case against Apple.
