MobileChat 3 Has finally came out for the iPhone.

This has been one of the most anticipated instant messaging services. What is really cool about MobileChat 3, is that you can send MMS, and use it in landscape mode.. You can also receive background push notifications via SMS or Email. This is the first instant message service to do so. This is a temporary solution until Apple Releases Background Push Notifications.
