AT&T says that despite losing iPhone exclusivity, its customers have remained loyal to the network, according to a MarketWatch report.
Churn, which refers to the number of customers who cancel services, "has not moved at all," said Glen Lurie, President of Emerging Devices for the company.
Lurie said the carrier's relationship with Apple, maker of the iPhone, has been positive, and they've had record-breaking sales of the latest iPhone 4S which has led to some supply issues. U.S. consumers are looking at a week to two week wait times to get the latest iPhone 4S from AT&T, he said.
I miss my T-Mobile days. Even while under contract, I would contact customer service and ask for my phone's unlock code. The reason being that I would be travelling overseas and wanted to buy a local SIM to avoid the "roaming" charges on T-Mobile. Within 24 hours, I get my code emailed to me .... Good old days...
I'm in the same boat as you, I wanted to switch to Verizon but couldn't because of my contract, now I can't leave because Verizon doesn't offer unlimited data and Sprint's network sucks.
I think Apple needs to seriously consider becoming an actual carrier. Thus controlling the customer experience from end to end. Perhaps not building their own network but signing agreements with all the major world service providers.
