Microsoft's Second Seinfeld Ad: New Family

Microsoft's Second Seinfeld Ad: New Family

Posted September 11, 2008 at 9:38pm by iClarified · 5047 views
Microsoft has aired its second ad featuring Seinfeld and Bill Gates.

The first ad featured dialog between Gates and Seinfeld in a shoe store with an ending that implied that the future of Windows is 'Delicious'. General online reviews deemed the ad a flop.

In this second ad Jerry Seinfeld convinces Bill Gates to try and connect with everyday people the old fashioned way. It ends with the message, "Perpetually Connecting." Windows.

The thing which strikes me is that for about 4 and a half minutes (a lot longer than a normal TV ad) we're watching two people wander about doing nothing. There's no real gags and not even a mention of a product. Lets have a look at the Mac ads - Bright, fun, quick, good music, the product clearly shown. On a simple level there's just more to buy into in those advets. Bill's an idiot!

Seriously, these ads are so shit.. Entertaining to watch once to see what happens? then what happens? nothing, if this was on tv i would walk away.. i cant seem to connect with what they are trying to achieve? bill gates seems more shitly scripted than his operating system..

Now someone explain me how the average Joe will find this funny?? Why do they need to put Bill Gates in the add. This ain't Steve Jobs with his charisma. Come on Bill face it! You're a bad actor. Instead of hiring Seinfeld they should have hired a good Hollywood director :(

Confusion, Difficult, Complicated - This Ad reflects the principle behind M$ product design!

haha good commercial, means absolutely nothing and i still won't change because the fact remains Mac is much more stable and easier to use and safer than a PC, Yet, i'm still smiling!! Way-ta Go Bill and Jerry!!
