Leaked SwirlyMMS Beta for iPhone 2.0/2.1 [Update]

Posted September 16, 2008 at 2:04pm by iClarified
A leaked beta of SwirlyMMS has made it to Cydia via the iSpazio source.

Update: SwirlyMMS 1.2 official is now available from the Ste repo in Cydia! No need for the procedure below...

I got the new version of SwirlyMMS that works on 2.0 and 2.1 firmware (as well the iPhone 3G). It’s a beta version and maybe we will have the final throught the AppStore. SwirlyMMS it’s the only application that allows you to send and receive real MMS and it doesn’t use some internet service over WiFi

Installation Procedure:
* Download this file: test.list
* SSH the test.list file into your iPhone in this root: “/etc/apt/sources.list.d/”
* Open Cydia and wait for a refresh of Sources.
* Now click on the “Changes” tab and there will be SwirlyMMS

Note*: You can find some carrier MMS settings here

How do you SSH the phone.

Do not expect this app to be available into the official appstore. In order to receive MMS, SwirlyMMS uses Apple private API, not available with the official iPhone SDK. So Apple won't allow this app into the appstore : Using unpublished API is forbidden by Apple.

Of course, cuz AT&T still won't let iPhone users receive MMS. Screw AT&T

for us in uk on 02 we have a problem o2 iphones dont support mms so o2 wont activate mms services to are sim cards even if they do it one picture message will cost you 4 standard texts everytime off your bundle ,also you wont be able to receive incoming mms because o2 will send you a text to check online to veiw your mms because they know iphone does not support mms so wont send it to your phone , shame really

Reporting from Singapore. It works perfectly between difference telcos, phone models and of cause, between 2 iPhones. Speed and quality of picture received is top class. It is simply awesome! Cheers!

Those of you who are getting an error when trying to send and receive, if it says your demo license has expired it's because you had a demo license in the past with that phone and it logged your serial. If you pay the $8 everything will work fine, I did it myself so I can vouch for that. If you never had SwirlyMMS on your phone you will get a demo license for 14 days and then you'll have to pay. Hope this helps

I'm getting that too. It also says the demo license has expired. People are saying it works, what's going on? I'm with T-Mobile US and I cant send or receive. It won't fetch the pic and I get the failed to read header error...
