'At a Glance' Notification Screen for the iPhone

'At a Glance' Notification Screen for the iPhone

Posted September 18, 2008 at 6:49pm by iClarified
Apple is considering adding an "At a Glance" notification screen for the iPhone, according to a recent patent filing.

MacRumors reports that the proposed screen would allow users to quickly jump to the desired notification simply by pressing on the corresponding notification.

Currently any iPhone notification disappears when the phone is unlocked. A proper notification system may become more important once "push" notifications are activated, which would cause the number of potential notifications to increase significantly.

no need for apples at a glance. Simply let intelliscreen sell trough appstore. I will never be without intelliscreen.

I love how Apple's mockup doesn't include e-mail. This is the single biggest missing item from the iPhone - that there is no way to tell that you have new email without unlocking the phone and going into the mail app. No one really needs copy/paste...but I NEED to know "at a glance" if I have new email or not. In this regard, intelliscreen was absolutely the way to go for me and has been a life savor. Alexandre, i disagree that it's ugly, but it does take a lot of tweaking to get it to look good. Whatever Apple comes up with, it won't be as good as what Intelliscreen has because Apple FAILS at real-world usability.
