WebMonkey has come to the conclusion that iTunes sucks, and has posted its top ten reasons for saying so.
ITunes sucks. There, we said it. Apples once very handy jukebox and music library manager has morphed into an unusable piece of crap thats not even an app anymore, its just a kiosk for the iTunes Store.
Top Ten Reasons: - Its a store, stupid - The library manager is prehistoric - No web browser/Wikipedia/anything - No plug-in architecture - Massive memory footprint - No support for other music formats Ogg/FLAC/etc. - Drag and Drop sucks - Bloatware downloads - Cant use iPod as a music transport with iTunes - iTunes is slow
WebMonkey has also setup an area where you can submit and vote on your own issues with iTunes. They suggest checking out Songbird or Amarok as iTunes alternatives...
RIGHT!!!!!!! Sounds like the same problem we R having, if ITUNES doesnt work w/ anything other than a MAC Y not tell people that B4 they spend $$$$$ on their product.... Have U got anywhere w/ them or had any success.....
Not to mention, they force you to install QTime, which takes over all multimedia extensions (video/music).
Then again, same is true with pretty much every other piece of software today.
There's no longer a respect for people's personal computers (and I don't mean "PC's", per se, so don't start another PC vs MAC
discussion here). Every developer's goal today seems to be to take control of your computer (or device) and use it as an up selling
platform. On the other hand, they assume everyone out there is an idiot, incapable of creating a shortcut or associating a file
extension by themselves. They bloat their apps so much, that the end-use experience shoots in the complete opposite direction the intend.
iTunes reminds me of the old Cobal programming days --- where everything is big and bloated. It is a dog (especially on the win platform). Got a really really old iMac, it's not even supposed to work on it. But is is faster on that iMac than my new fast XP with 100X memory and processing speed. Hmmmm. That's Apples REAL plan. Force their platform..
"Simple is better". Why a simple file manager between to computers (that is really all we need) can evolve into iTunes, is one of the worlds biggest mysteries. I hate using this product, as it totally lacks transparency, and moving a file or connecting a device sometimes sets off a totally unpredictable chain reaction.
i live in Hong Kong and although we have the appstore, we cant get itunes here and the stupid fxxxxxx icon on my iphone is totally useless.
(which i guess i should be thankful for really.)
i'm completely agree except point 7 and 9,
drag & drop? come on.. it's lot easier..
ipod as transport?? well, it is an apple policy at the first place : NO PIRACY..
so, you don't agree with iPhone Bluetooth w/o OBEX Push?
well,, it is your choice.. choose it or leave it..
