AT&T Describes Future of the iPhone

Posted November 7, 2008 at 12:46pm by iClarified
AT&T iPhone Chief Ralph de la Vega described his vision for the iPhone's future at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. The description came in response to a question by TechCrunch's Michael Arrington.

Mark Sullivan of PC World recorded the following scenarios as described by de la Vega...

Before the iPhone wakes you up in the morning with its alarm clock, De la Vega says, it will have already loaded all of your daily news feeds onto the phone. It will also have already sent a wireless message to your coffee maker to get the coffee ready. While you're sitting there drinking your coffee, he says, you might decide that you'd rather read your news on the TV screen; so with a wave of the device toward the TV, de la Vega says, you'll send your news feeds wirelessly from the phone to the TV for reading.

My 2G hacked iphone does all that and more... it even drives my car for me while I'm talking on the phone... just don't rely on the GPS to get you anywhere ;)

Well this all sound nice and swell, except for the fact that it's completely unrealistic. They can't even get text translation working even half decently, so realtime speech translation sounds more like Star Trek than reality! Beam me up, Scotty! And get me a cup of coffee, Mr De la Vega.
