Swedish telecom company TeliaSonera is working on an MMS workaround for the iPhone, according to a MacWorld report.
In an interview with MacWorld a spokesperson for Telia confirms that it will shortly launch an application for MMS. The spokesperson Bengt Olsson indicates the expected launch will be within two months and that the program will also facilitate logging onto wireless networks (WLAN).

You can see what the MMS program will look like here: http://feber.se/article_images/85/37/6/85376_450.jpg
The Wlan program will probably only let you log on to Telia´s own wireless locations called Homerun without having to do so on the web like today.
This is my personal reflections and nothing official.

It's pointless the making an app which "Can't Run in the Background". It should be Apple that do this as they're the only ones who can have apps that run in background, like SMS.
I hate having to go into an app to find out if there's new notifications.
