I\'ll tell you what happened, they made to many iPhone 4 s and they want to milk the marekt so they upgrade the camera give it a new processor and slap a S on it .. and call it the iPhone 4S. S stands for slack, meaning they Slacked off on this one. I think it\'s fair to say that it is the biggest let down of the year. Only good thing is the camera the a4 is more than capable just jailbreak it and speed up the processor to the original iPads a4 speed.

Ok, here is the easiest solution if your computer freezes after using this script: You need another mac though. 1) Turn off the fucked up computer 2) Connect a 6-6 firewire cable between the fucked up computer and the other mac (turned on) 3) Boot the fucked up computer in target mode by pressing T during boot. You’ll see a big firewire symbol on the screen and the hard drive of the fucked up computer will appear in finder. 4) Download the 10.5.6 Combo Update from Apple at the other mac. 5) Double-click the update to start it and just follow the instructions. Choose the fucked up computer’s hard drive when you select the target volume during the installation process. 6) When you have finshed the update, eject the fucked up computer in finder, disconnect the firewire cable and reboot it. 7) Done.

Hi! I found a really easy solution. If you are like me, not an expert at all and you think people is talking Chinese when trying to explain how to fix your Mac, here it goes a easy way to do it: http://hackint0sh.org/forum/f146/60657-8.htm#post375941 (follow unkle's instructions). If you are worried about loosing all the info you had before everything frozed, don't worry anymore. By following this guy instructions you just repair the damage this stupid program made and update 10.5.6 combo at the end. When you finish doing all of that, your mac will be the same as always. Applications, pictures, documents, music...everything :) LESSON LERNT: never ever ever again, install something without reading a LOT about it in many many forums. :) Hope I helped! Sofia

I ran this script 2 weeks ago. After it requested my imac pw, it sat there. It did not automatically reboot. I rebooted anyways and everything was fine. I couldn't tell if the script worked or not so I ended up using a usb port (based on other comments in forums). After 2 weeks, I had to reboot my imac and my keyboard and mouse stopped working. I hadn't made any changes between then and now. I was stuck. I didn't have another mac and safe mode would not recognize the keyboard or mouse either. So I researched around (using my windows pc) and found this forum post: www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f146/60657-8.htm. I read and followed unkle's instructions and It worked for me! (Only step different was in step 3, I removed the "/" before the ending quotes.) I was able to use my keyboard and mouse in safe mode and install the 10.5.6 combo update that I had downloaded and placed on a flash drive. Everything is back to normal. All apps and everything are still there :)

Yeah I had the same problem with this script !!! Dont use it !!! If you are in trouble (stuck with no keyboard an mouse) check out Tapatio's post below on how to solve this issue by restoring your system: definitely the easiest way if you are non-geek like me... Thanks Tapatio

Thanks, Oliver! I'm glad this has worked for the relief of some of us who are non-geeks (that's like 90% of readers) and that also avoided the embarassing step of taking our Mac for "service". And as I said. I'm using 10.5.5 and do not intend to upgrade untill this is truly solved.

DO NOT USE THIS PATCH!! I is likely to cause way more trouble than help. Yes, for some it has worked, but for many others it has not. Do you really want to roll the dice? Honestly, I think it's quite irresponsible for iClarified to keep this hack up here (and only with a small quote that it 'might" cause problems). Want to use DFU with 10.5.6? It's simple, just use a USB hub. It's that easy!!!!

I'm successfully restoring with a custom 2.2 ISPW on 10.5.6. Instead of putting the iPhone into DFU, I put it into regular recovery mode. When in this mode on the iPhone the iTunes logo and the USB cable is shown (Apple default), or "Steve" (Standard Pwnage) or your custom recovery logo. 1. Disconnect iPhone from your PC/Mac if not done already. 2. Hold Power/Sleep until the red slider shows up, slide to shut the iPhone down. If this aint work hold Power/Sleep and Home until the iPhone shuts down. Put it aside. 3. Start iTunes on your PC/Mac and make sure to have the latest version. 4. On the iPhone press Home button and keep holding it while connecting the iPhone to your PC/Mac. 5. iTunes will detect an iPhone in recovery mode, the iPhone shown the recovery logo.

I have the same problem. I read a few posts on macfixit.com but the solution did not work for me. I tried the ''Archive and Install'' approach but my MacbookPro can't boot from the leopard DVD. I constantly get a nasty folder with a question-mark. After a few seconds, the question mark disappears and it takes me again to the frozen input at login. I understand that the machine does not recognise the DVD and continues to boot from my HDD. I tried with another DVD but the same problem remains. Help!Help!Help!Help!Help!

Your keyboard, mouse and usb ports will stop working if you use this script. Don't do it. iClarified should remove this tutorial long time ago.
Kei
Kei - January 10, 2009 at 10:59am
go ahead and install this patch if you want your keyboard and mouse to stop working. It won't even work in safe mode and you're screwed like me if you have a macbook air, because you have to use a USB cd drive to reinstall OSX. iClarified should NOT recommend this or even have a page on this. I'm so disappointed! Install this 'patch' if you're a sucker.

OMG! I accidentally installed the thing without knowing bad things could and everything went through. So far, it's been two days and my mouse and keyboard USB haven't died on me, but I'm afraid it soon will. I downloaded the Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update. Currently I'm on 10.5.6, and I don't want to reinstall OS because this computer belongs to my brother. I'm really not sure what to do now! When I booted up my iMac, it took 3 minutes to boot up, usually it takes 20 seconds. Everything's been slowing down every since I installed this stupid thing! Please! I need help to remove this before any more bad things happen.

I also installed this on mi imac 24" and the next day my usb keyboard did not respond and bluetooth mouse also was dead, no signal. No way to acces my imac. I had installed Jaduu Connect on mi imac and my iphone, and with it i was able to use my imac and download from apples website the update for 10.5.6 and reinstall it, and everything was fix then. so use this app at your own risk, cause you can end up with a messed up computer, without keyboard and mouse, and many problems to try to fix it and recover your data.

DO NOT DO THE MOVE !!! Totally useless Tuto. It didn't work with me and freeze my iTunes (was not able to connect my iPhone on my computer and iTunes didn't recognize it as it was saying there was a USB problem). For unlucky guys like me (or with other problems), go back on Apple website and download the Mac OS X 10,5,6 Combo Update ... it will fix your issue (but the main one will still remain, no DFU)

This automator script is completely broken unless the folder that contains it is on your desktop. Even then, one of the shell commands at the end needs to be run with sudo, not by itself. If you want to use it, you need to run Automator, and use it to edit the script to make sure all shell commands are preceded with sudo.

Philipp - January 1, 2009 at 11:44am
To clear this up: When I installed this for the first time, it didn't work. The dialogues etc which were supposed to come up didn't appear, so I checked the modified folder and saw that the actual drivers were backed up to the Desktop, bit the "old" ones which were supposed to be there, were not. So I ran the script again, and it worked. If I didn't notice this error my MBP would have been messed up, too. Just check if the drivers were replaced correctly! Tip: There seems to be an authentication window appearing with a password PREFILLED. Just hit okay and give your auth in the next window. Hope this helps some.

I'm another victim of this Script. My advise is this: 1. Don't panic. There's a solution to everything, except death. 2. Restart your Mac, and while there's the log window, insert your "Install Disk 1" 3. Restart your Mac again, holding the "C" key, and it will reboot in "secure" mode. 4. Click "Continue", this will restore your MacOS to whatever it was when you purchased it. Follow the instructions to make an Archive, and restore System version. It would take about an hour, and there's a progress bar to get entertained ;P 5. It shouldn't be difficult to get up to this point, as everything Mac is. Computer should be rebooted, and you can check what OS version you have on "About this Mac" - you know where. 6. If you want to update "Manually", I mean, instead of "Software Update", go to "http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/" where I suggest you to choose a "Combo Update" of whatever version you'd like (even 5.6!, why not give it a 2nd try?) 7. Enjoy the holidays!

There is a much easier and better way IF you can get into safe mode and have your keyboard working. It took me a couple of tries but finally got there. Then I downloaded the 10.5.6 update and installed it. Upon restart, I had my system back as before AND I didn't have to reinstall any of my apps. I'm assuming by restore you guys are meaning to "as new" condition. That would be a major pain if you have tons of applications. As a result of all this, I now have a fresh bootable backup of the entire hard drive via Carbon Copy Cloner. In the meantime, I unlocked the phones I was working on via a 10.5.5 Mac while working to resolve this problem with the keyboard on my main machine. As Tepatio said don't freak too soon.
Tapatio
Tapatio - December 27, 2008 at 12:33am
Thanks, Yancey. When I used the restore disc, it kept intact the Apps I had loaded (i.e. Skype, VMWare, Firefox, et. al.) and it made a "Previous Systems" folder on Macintosh HD/ (2.94 GB, by the way). As a matter of fact, I downloaded 10.5.5 and am planning to stay there till there's a solution for this.

I don't now bigin MacMini without keyboard. I tried press the c key but keboard not work. The macmini try boot and reboot after and enter in normal boot but I don't have control of Keyboard. I don't have the DVD of Leopar my mac mini came with tiger OX and I upgrade to leopard but I don't have the original DVD. Is possible is for that I can't boot in safe mode?

Hey Garça. You should have started telling this from the beginning. I don't how Tiger works with this, but it should be the same. I also have Panther (10.3) on an iMac (Flat Panel), but it works the same. Actually, when I reboot with the disk inside I don't need to press any key, it goes to "Restore" directly.

I thinck that you have your mac to boot from CD room, wen you pute the CD of Mac OX it boot's from CD. I Have my mac to boot from Hard drive im my preferences, I think that is. My macmini trie boot from Cd but it can't and inject the Cd and boot again to the user ecran and I can't enter because the keyboard don+t work.

I followed the instruction provided by Tapiato and this fixed the issue. Thanks a lot. I was about to go the the Apple Center, this saved me an humiliation... Just so you know, it takes approx 1.5 hour though. The system restore doesnt impact the programs you installed or your files (this is something I was wondering about when about to do it).

How I can put my MacMini im safe mode with no keyboard?
Yancey
Yancey - December 22, 2008 at 9:28pm
I RETRACT the do not use post I made. Apparently, I bailed on the script without giving it enough time to run, I lost control of the keyboard and mouse and had visions of my business machine having to be completely rebuilt. I waited about 5 min for the script to run, but apparently needed longer. I was able to restore the 10.5.6 update using safe mode and have my machine back. It wasn't nearly as simple as I would have preferred but it kept me from having to completely rebuild. My apologies to Volks for besmirching his code.

Hi. When used this Apple Script everything was fine. But when i restarted my MacBook Pro(not the late 2008 ones) my Mac freezed and the only thing i could do is to bring up the shut down, restart, etc. buttons when i press the power button. And couldn't do anything else. My Mac was completely gone. So i made an archive and install and right now I'm updating my system and I'm not planning on using that Apple Script again. It deals with some core files and gives harm to the system. To reverse it's effects i gave a lot of time that i needed for something else. I also suggest you to don't use this Apple Script. It might work for you but if it doesn't Archive and install will be your only option to reverse it's effects and you will lose a lot of time. Instead stay on the 10.5.5.
