----- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today unveiled the GALAXY S III mini, a compact version of the flagship smartphone GALAXY S III. The GALAXY S III mini brings the high performance, intuitive ease-of-use and nature-inspired design of the GALAXY S III to an elegant, compact smartphone with a 4.0-inch screen. It can be an optimal choice for consumers who are looking for more practical smartphones.
"The GALAXY S III introduced a new concept of smartphone that has proven hugely popular around the world. We're now delighted to bring its revolutionary design, intuitive usability and intelligence to the GALAXY S III mini in a more compact form," said JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. "We continue to make every effort to provide extraordinary mobile experiences to meet a wide variety of user needs."
The GALAXY S III mini is powered by Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), the latest version of the world's most popular smartphone operating system. Jelly Bean has fast, fluid and smooth graphics along with a new Google Search experience featuring Google Now, which brings you just the right information, before you even ask.
Stylish and compact, the GALAXY S III mini shares the GALAXY S III's breakthrough design and simple elegance. Its ultra-minimal curved frame delivers a rich natural feel, which is also reflected on its nature-inspired home screen, wallpapers and ringtones.
Its beautiful 4.0-inch Super AMOLED display offers a generous viewing experience that lets you view multimedia and Web content in brilliant color and clarity. Its compact size gives users a comfortable grip and allows a convenient one-hand operation.
The GALAXY S III mini is packed with intelligent technology designed to make interacting with the phone incredibly natural and intuitive. S Voice, Samsung's advanced natural language recognition software, lets you use your voice to unlock the phone with simple customized commands, or to play your favorite songs, turn the volume up or down, organize your schedule, or automatically launch the camera and start taking photos.
The GALAXY S III mini also understands your gestures to make using your phone easier and more natural: With Smart Stay, the phone's camera tracks your eyes and keeps the screen lit as long as you are looking at it. When reading a text message from a friend, Direct Call enables you to automatically dial a call simply by lifting the phone to your ear; and Smart Alert conveniently alerts you to missed calls or messages as soon as you pick up your phone.
Content sharing is easy and fast on the GALAXY S III mini: Its S Beam feature lets you share a 10MB music file in just two seconds by simply tapping on another S Beam-enabled device including GALAXY S III or GALAXY Note II, even without a Wi-Fi or cellular signal. The 'Buddy photo share' function also allows photos to be easily and simultaneously shared with all your friends pictured in an image directly from the camera or the photo gallery. -----

The SIII is really nice. however Samsung needs to develop a better competition for itunes because kies really is a waste. You will never get to transfer anything bia USB. And when you do using wifi it takes hours to upload music ect..
Very nice phone. Both G III 's are nice. I have to many Apple Apps to make up any advantage there might be but I love the competition. The 4S was a stall on technology and Apple waited to long to bring out the 5. So maybe them trying to keep up rather than lead , we will have the best of both worlds. There is still a major shortage at Apple and phone stores for the 5. Apple continues to make the same miss steps every new release.
I love both phones. They have their differences. Big deal. So do relationships. Samslut should just give in and bite the Apple. Taste each other once and for all to end this silly beat around the bush feud. Aside from parts used "shared", they should have intimately joined from the beginning to have built the best phone phone in the world. Call it the...iSampple Gal S
I'm tired of hearing about how Samsung is this and that. Samsung is no match for Apple. I just hate how a Galaxy feels in my hand. I'm not a kid. I don't want plastic toys. Haha
Thats what the fanbois will always say about samsung and apple. But for neutral people and educated people have diferent perspectives when judging a smartphones, then cheapy comments are coming from people that never had nokia phones before, I have iPhones from 3g till iPhone 5 and have gs3 as well and samsung and iphone have their strengths and weakneses against eachother. Im not a apple hater or a fandroid but I am sure that i5 lacks so many features that gs3 have, thats base on my user experience.
Looks good. I for one prefer the iPhone's smaller screen size (and smaller overall size) to the giant "phablets" that we're commonly seeing on the Android side these days. If I wanted a big screen, I'll use a tablet or a laptop. So, this mini SIII is a welcome change. This phone size fits better in the hand and pocket.
That said, I'm looking forward to the rumored November unveiling of one or more new Google-branded phones running stock Android 4.1 (or maybe 4.2). The price is right, they're likely to get Android updates before phones from other sellers, they come unlocked, and they don't have a layer of proprietary interface to come between you and the Android experience. Samsung, HTC, and others might actually make the Google phones, but they have a lot to learn about the interfaces consumers really want (as opposed to the interfaces they want us to use, to lock us into their brands).
Or an iPhone 5 would be great too. I'm not a member of a tribe, ready to go to war for my phone. Just a guy who wants to make calls and do a little web surfing.
not gonna lie. i wish some of the features on jelllybean were on iOS. I really like the gesture stuff and the stuff using eye placement. the phone seems more intuitive w/o even having to do anything. iOS really is kind of lagging behind isn't it?
Its better to keep it easy and simple. That's why Apple wins everytime. It's about how user-friendly and efficient the OS is. Why complicate things up with unnecessary stuff? Why creating slags and hick-ups that Androids have? If u want stuff like that, that is what Jailbreak and Apps are for lol :)
Don't need to be bashing on Samsung you guys act like the iPhone only cell phone out there. I have both iPhone 5 , 4s, also Samsung galaxy s 2. All phones are great you guys need to open your eyes and I'm sure there are way better phones out there.
Samsung is doing more harm than good promoting their products.
In every commercial they always mention Samsung.
Apple doent have to advertise the Iphone5?
Thats good for Apple.
I don't know why there are so many people hating on Samsung for this. They know whilst most people want a stunning large 4.5 ish screen there are some (particularly females) who want slightly smaller phones. The 4 inch is for those people.
The one thing Samsung do which apple could learn from is that not everyone wants the exact same device- a couple of choices would be good.
Yes nobody wants the same phone like the GS3 the GS3 mini and the galaxy note 2...all which are the GS3 in different sizes...lol not to mention that the GS3 mini is a downgrade from the first GS3...I'm trying to see if I can refer to the GS3 as many times as they did in the article, Samsung cant compete
Samsung know that they will lost the market when iphone 5 come out , so release samsung galaxy s3 mini with 4 inch screen same with iphone 5. Samsung no more idea, just change the size. Maybe galaxy s3 mini = S4 haha....:)
I thought apple is running out ideas and that why they release Iphone 5 with same design except little bigger screen and thinner. If apple don't redesign their phone and will lose a lot of customer. Since iphone 4 apple haven't change any hardware much.....Im just saying.
Aah , question I have ( waves hand in the air )... How much is it going to cost..?? Just curious. Because I did not see any price mentioned or I might of completely....lol
Maybe Samsung realized it that Apple is right about their Physic commercial. Who is the follower now? And who leads? (Cough) Apple?
Maybe Samsung thinks that they will be able to stray away some Apple iphone user who just want 4 inch screen like myself. Nope, I just like the simplicity and consistency of Apple brand and easy to keep up with their products. Unlike Samsung who releases phones one after another. I look at iPhone not just an iPhone but its the phenomena behind this since the beginning of the first iPhone. Like other movies such as Star Wars or Star Trek. These movies have loyal followers so does Apple iPhone.
What the hell are you talking about? Samsung do releases 2 different size of their phones, the size of samsung sg3 mini is just the the other samsung older phones like corby series
Samsung has always had smaller and larger versions of their imitation iphones etc... I love my iPhone and pray they too will make two versions of it so we can choose if we want a larger or smaller phone.
