UnlocktheiPhone is claiming to be able to unlock the 2.2.1 iPhone firmware using software.
Within minutes you will be able to unlock any iPhone. Whether your iPhone has version 1.*, 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1 and iPhone 3G - we have the software to unlock it all!
Our software is GUARANTEED to unlock your 3g iPhone and Jailbreak iPhone. Our iphone unlocking software works with the new apple iPhone 3G with all versions including 2.2 and 2.2.1 and of course can jailbreak and unlock all older iPhones.
The site sells their software for $29.95. It seems they are actually repackaging the iPhone Dev-Teams hard work on QuickPwn and YellowSn0w. At this point in time yellowsn0w is unable to unlock the baseband that comes with 2.2.1.

That's a complete fake I mean its Yell0wSn0w which they are selling. And yes before you pay, there is no information in which we may be able to know that it is Yell0wSn0w or Quickpwn.
So please DO NOT PAY for this crap.

It is a complete scam! Tried it today May 4th, 2009. All they do is give you the instructions from yelowsn0w! Outrageous! Stay away from UnlockthiPhone.com, unless you want to lose (just as me) 30 bucks! Shame on them!

All I can say is if you paid for this.... I'd be contacting the BBB and reporting a fraudulent website!

I tried contacting Digital River (the people that charge the credit cards for then), but I was unable to do so, using their cumbersome contact page. They should at least know they are aiding and abetting. Perhaps they could pull the plug on them as a customer.

their intentions are working and they are making money off the desperate people. this tends to happen very often in the iphone world. just be careful, when a "new" website starts claiming they can unlock it yet it's not on a big forum such as "engadget" or "gizmodo" it's probably a scam. If it were legit the world would have heard of it by now and very likely it would be free.

It's a scam. They are selling YellowSn0w, which does not unlock 2.21 currently.

Have you tried it?
0
Jorge Asch - May 4, 2009 at 12:40pm
Yes. I decided to spend the $29.95 too see if it was really true. They sent me a link to download QuickPwn and instructions to install YellowSn0w. Their website also says there's a Money Back Guarantee. We'll see how that goes.

Hope you get your money back!

on HoFo they said they tried to email about a refund but the email they offer gets no reply.

Can I use this software to downgrade baseband 2.2.1 to 2.2 with BL 5.9..Thanks
0
Jobe - May 4, 2009 at 5:31pm
No you can't.
2.2.1 is the firmware version. You can downgrade it to 2.2, but it won't take any effect on your baseband 2.30! Not with BL 5.9 at this moment!
So don't buy this cr*p!
