AT&T may drop the price of the entry iPhone service plan by $10 when the new iPhone debuts next month, according to TheStreet.com
There is a "strong possibility" that AT&T will drop the entry-level price to $59 from $69, says Cote Collaborative analyst Michael Cote, an industry pricing strategist. The announcement, he said, will probably accompany the launch of the new iPhone on June 8, during Apple's World Wide Developers Conference.
The price cut would underscore the pressure AT&T and Apple are under to boost iPhone sales. AT&T needs a way to reach beyond its core iPhone customers to people who might find it too expensive. Meanwhile, Apple may be looking to push iPhone sales beyond AT&T and toward other players like Verizon
The price of the phone itself is going to be too high. I dont know if dropping $10 on the lowest monthly plan will do. They need to be a little more creative than that. Blackberry phones rock and their plans arent too bad especially when you can shop around with all the providers and make your final decision.
Good start but it will take a lot more to win over me. No problem if I had an nice expense account. Adding data and sms plans (who what an iPhone without 'em :)) and this is still terribly expensive for a personal budget.
