Microsoft is set to finally unveil its Office Suite for iPad on March 27 at a media event, according to a new report from The Verge. Sources familiar with the matter claim that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will reveal the suite, which includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at a media event in San Francisco on March 27.
Microsoft released the Office Suite for iPhone last year, which required an Office 365 subscription for editing, and sources claim that the iPad version will require the subscription as well.
Microsoft has been working on the software for a number of months now, having first introduced an iOS version of Office for the iPhone in June last year. We understand the iPad variant of Office will be similar to the iPhone version, and will require an Office 365 subscription for editing. We’re told that document creation and editing is fully supported for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps. Overall, the interface and features are expected to be similar to the existing iPhone version.
Today, Microsoft launched a Mac version of its OneNote Office app. It also plans to launch a new version of Office for Mac later this year.

Office 365 subscription? Never.
Any MS subscription? Never, not even if it's free (as for OneNote now).
Either they sell me their SW with no need for an MS account or they've lost me 4 ever!

Subscription? But thats the reason no one is buyin that sh!t. Microsoft is stuck on a business model of the 80s. If I buy the software, I own in. period.
