Watch Sony introduce their Playstation Motion Controller at E3 and explain how it works in the video below.
The Playstation Motion Controller uses camera to track the purple ball on the end of the controller stick. The sampling of the motion is 1 to 1. It is extremely accurate and smooth and works at 60 frames per second.
The Motion Controller is expected to launch in Spring 2010.
