TSMC to be Sole Manufacturer of the iPhone 7's Processor?

Apple has selected TSMC as the sole manufacturer of the iPhone 7's processor, reports ETNews. It's believed that Apple chose the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company over Samsung because of its new 10nm manufacturing process.

The iPhone 7's processor, most likely the A10, is said to enter production in June but the device won't be launched until this fall.

If the report is accurate, it's a blow to Samsung, who currently shares production of the iPhone 6s' A9 processor with TSMC. Some users found that the iPhone 6s with a TSMC made A9 chip got significantly more battery life than the iPhone 6s with a Samsung made A9 chip. However, testing by Consumer Reports found less than a 2% difference.

The iPhone 7 is said to look much like the iPhone 6s with two notable differences. The camera will reportedly sit flush with the rear casing thanks to a thinner camera module and the antenna bands across the back will reportedly be removed. Click here for more details.
