Some iPhone 7 Devices Are Making Hissing Noises Under Load [Video]

Posted September 18, 2016 at 3:36pm by iClarified
Some users are reporting that their new iPhone 7 is making hissing sounds when under load.

Stephen Hackett of 512 Pixels describes the issue...

As my iPhone 7 Plus was restoring from iCloud, I thought I noticed some sound. After picking the device up from my desk, it was clear the sounds are coming from back of the phone, possibly from the CPU. It seems to get worse if the iPhone is under load. It’s loud enough to be heard even if the iPhone is just sitting on the desk.

Hackett has posted a video to YouTube demonstrating the sound:

Notably, he is not alone. Darrell Etherington tweets, "brand new, just-unboxed doing the same thing right now. did not restore, set up as new (still DL-ing email etc)"

Apple is replacing Hackett's iPhone after a call to AppleCare. Let us know in the comments if your device is making similar sounds. If yes, what was Apple's solution?

Defective batteries in Notes7 are made by Samsung SDI company. Not 3rd party.

The battery is made by Samsung SDI Company. I don't think you can call it 3rd parties. Regardless they are outsource to China or not, Samsung is still responsible for their own product. They have their QA to test their product. it's controlled by Samsung and their spec. It's not 3rd parties. It's just like Apple use Foxiconn for producing iPhone. But all details are controlled and by Apple. When other manufacturer (not ordered or controlled by Samsung) create a battery that is compatible with the Note 7, those are 3rd parties product.
