Alexa Gets a Male Voice, New Wake Word

Amazon has updated Alexa with a male sounding voice, as well as a new wake word. It's the last major assistant to do so, as both Siri and Google Assistant already have masculine sounding voices.

The male sounding voice is simply described as 'new' and the regular voice is described as 'original'. You can choose between the two voices in device settings.


The new wake word is 'Ziggy' and it can be used to replace Alexa for either voice.

You can also change your voice selection and wake word by asking Alexa. Try saying, "Alexa, change your voice" or "Alexa, change your wake word".
