YouTube has confirmed that it is running a test to see if users will upgrade to Premium in order to watch videos in 4K.
User @its_menieb noticed that he could no longer view YouTube videos in 4K without a Premium subscription.
After calling out YouTube on Twitter, the company replied...
"hi! it looks like [you're] part of our experiment to know better the feature preferences Premium & non-Premium viewers. if you have more thoughts in mind, you can share it here so we can make improvements: https://goo.gle/3fBTFeL"
The possibility of needing to pay for 4K content is sure to anger many YouTube users who are already bombarded with ads to support free viewing. It's unclear if the site will go through with the idea, but you can download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for updates.

Google is losing the plot more and more 1st they cancel Google Stadia without telling devs then now this I doubt it’ll work 4k is the new norm for most people and to pay for it would be ridiculous since it’s been free for 4 odd years
