Apple to Start Mass Production of HomePod Mini 2, AirPods Max 2, Low-Cost AirPods in 2H24 [Kuo]

Apple is preparing to start mass production of a new HomePod mini 2, AirPods Max 2, and low-cost AirPods in the second half of 2024 at the earliest, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

I predict Apple's next important acoustic product refresh time is will be in 2H24-1H25. The following new products will likely start mass production in 2H24 at the earliest.
1. HomePod mini 2.
2. AirPods Max 2.
3. AirPods low-cost version.

Kuo also notes that Apple supplier Goertek has resolved AirPods Pro 2 production quality issues and is getting ready to resume manufacturing of the new earbuds. Goertek's production of AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 was not affected and the company has landed NPI and and assembly orders for HomePods mini 2.


Apple just released its second generation HomePod today so it's not surprising a HomePod mini 2 is under development. While we've seen updates to AirPods and AirPods Pro, Apple has yet to make any changes to its AirPods Max over-ear headphones which debuted back in 2020.
