A MacNN reader has spotted yet another indicator that the iPhone will feature GPS capabilities.
Notes on Apple's developer site mention altitude measurements something that MacNN says is impractical with current cell tower-based positioning due to accuracy. The note indicates the "verticalAccuracy" variable can be a positive or negative value, that its measured in meters, and that it is available in iPhone OS 2.0 or later.
The document relates to the "CLLocation Class Reference" and was found on the Apple Developer Connection website.
I know 3G would be sweet on the iPhone, but I doubt I'd buy it unless it had a real GPS chip on it with software for turn by turn navigation. THen it would definitely be worth it!
