fring is free to download and free to use! Simply add the following Installer Source to your iPhone: http://fring.com/iphone.xml
I don't know what is SIP. Can anybody explain for me ? Please !!!
I have Fring on my Iphone and skype is nice but phone conection is bad and the sound is poor.
I had problems also with SMS (I think Fring dleted my SMS)
Had problems installing - I originally tried from school, from which fring is for some reason blocked. Slightly stupid. Had to reboot after adding the source before it showed up as a category.
sip call worked great with me
havent tried skype still
only problem with sip call is i needed to press a number for an extension but could'nt
who can inform of this
The MSN feature (the only I tried) spam text after the sent message and change the Personal Message (the one that appear after your name on peoples Contact window) to a web site link without notify you, I found it very disappointing but other than that the program worked very well.
doesnt need wifi to work.
works with msn no problems.
havent tried anything else yet.
also.. i think all my old contacts are there because those contacts have ME added stil?
nice app.. update away ;)
fring is not compliant with my voip SIP provider.
furthermore, it is unclear which codecs fring supports. I tried all 4:
g729, g726, g711, and uncompressed gsm.
it initiates call, and hangs. app crashes a lot.
would like to see some error-handling support, and an advanced menu to manage proxy port, nat translation, invites, and codecs.
in theory, this is a really cool app that fring could even charge a reasonable fee for.
lets get this thing fully baked.
First of all, @Steve: stop being such a lame spammer - make a single post with whatever it is you want to say and then, quite frankly, shut up if you have nothing new to say!
To all: bear in mind this is a pre-release version, and has a good number of bugs. For instance, I have all my MSN deleted contacts still there (as others have pointed out). However, testing something out is what helps this to be improved. So, use it - this is a really great app - and send your bug reports to them...
Another obs: apparently it doesn't work over EDGE - only over wi-fi - can anyone else confirm/deny that?
they really are looking for our feedback...
Gil Regev, Online Marketing Coordinator for fring, told us During this R&D period, well be listening to feedback, so we can fine tune the final version and create a truly kicking user experience for iPhone users, so your feedback (in case you have an iPhone) is really important from us.
Regevs comments bring up an interesting point: some developers are now using the jailbreak community as a free beta test-bed for applications that are planned for distribution through the official AppStore. Though there are minor framework differences between the unofficial toolchain and Apples own, most applications are easily ported to the official scheme.
Steve, please understand that this is BETA software and is intended to only be released to testers and developers...dont expect it to work without any errors or strange hickup's, it will have many!
