Updating OS from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 and not to 6.0.1?

Currently Im on a jailbroken iPhone 4s running firmware 5.0.1. I want to update it to 5.1.1 but not to iOS 6. Ive downloaded the 5.1.1 ipsw file. Can anyone tell me how exactly I should proceed? Can I update using iTunes? Or do I need to restore using redsnow even though Im actually updating?

did you manage to update from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 ? i have my shsh for 5.1.1 and 5.0.1but it doesn't work either with itunes or redsn0wn

Unless you've saved your SHSH blob 5.1.1, I don't believe you can update to that firmware, like the previous answer said. To save your blobs moving forward, use TinyUmbrella:

I have the same issue, and i want to update to 5.1.1, but i am almost sure that it's not possible, because apple stoped signing the 5.1.1 unless there's another way to do the update.
