How do you insert the Delta symbol when typing on your Mac?

To type the uppercase Delta symbol (∆) on a Mac, press Option and J together on your keyboard.
If you need the lowercase Delta symbol (δ), there is no direct shortcut on the standard US keyboard layout. Instead, press Control, Command, and Space bar simultaneously to open the Character Viewer, then search for delta and double-click the lowercase version to insert it.
Note that Option and D creates the partial derivative symbol (∂), which is often mistaken for a lowercase delta.
