The iPhone Dev-Team has announced a new hactivation method by sbinger that provides the full benefit of push applications and increases battery life substantially
Developer @sbingner (author of TetherMe) has made some excellent progress devising a new hactivation method that kills two birds with one stone for all you ultrasn0w unlockers. His tool, Subscriber Artificial Module (SAM) tricks your iPhone and iTunes into creating legitimate activation tickets even though youre unlocked with ultrasn0w. This means you get the full benefit of push applications, and your battery life increases substantially. If youd like to try it out, check out http://www.bingner.com/SAM.html
To help make it easier to try out @sbingners tool, weve updated redsn0w to include a new Deactivate option for the 3G and 3GS. Use this option *after* youve installed SAM it will remove the normal patches made to lockdownd and let SAM take over. (sbingner plans on making a button to do this within SAMPrefs too). Great work, @sbingner!
You can download the new version of RedSn0w: ● Mac OS X ● Windows

just installed SAM, it said on the setting page that Activation State: Factory Activated & SAM State: Loaded OK. Is this mean that SAM had takeover the hactivation? my iphone still freezin
To save battery life, all I do is turn off Wifi and Data and the battery lasts as long as it should. When I enable those, it drains batter. Hope this helps out people. Just disable WiFi and Data whenever you don't need them. Its a bitch, but better then having a locked phone.
So downloaded everything fine. Installed everything with no trouble. Activation of SAM was a breeze. But my battery life is still 4 hours tops. its a 3GS running, Version 4.1 on the 6.15.00 firmware. Not having any other issues, but my phone is killing it self even while in standby mode.
I just restored 4.1 fw and restarted everything.... hoping this could fix the battery.....before the status was wildcardactivation and now it's factory activated... i guess this is good thing..(?) hopefully my bettery won't die quick like before...

Can i unlock my iphone 3g ios4.1 bb5.15.04 with this one, i tried using new redsnow (after i installed sam) and no result
ActivationState: Unactivated
Please help
i guess i really goofed it ... i jailbroke and unlocked my 3g 6.15 and it worked but... not so good so i tried to restore it to factory setting from itunes and it locked up in the recover mode to itunes now i think because of baseband 6.15 im messed up. is that right or can i still unlock it.... thanking you if u please reply
Depending on where you are located....get the phone replace. I updated my 3GS to 6.15, and screwed it up, and couldn't get past the Restore screen, I took it to SoftBank here in Japan, and they replaced it for free, because they couldn't prove it was jailbroken.
Hi guys, thanks for the help...
I have done all the steps mentioned above, then when I got to itunes activation it is telling me "Invalid Sim"!! I tried the carrier manual change but nothing happened, I can't find the SIMID thing!!
Help please, thanks
Chadzz, i was having battery problems. I could go to bed, and never turn my phone off. Then as soon as i moved from 4.0.1 to 4.1 after been on 4.2.1 which did not work for my 3gs, because of me having a new iboot. I stayed at 4.1 my battery only last a few hrs. instead of the whole day like it use too. I just tried the new step # 6 on the Dev_Blog and Everything went fine. it now says WilcardActivated. Just follow all the step it should work fine. I did it and it seems to be working.. keeping one eye open looking at the battery and see what happen.
Does this work with iphone 4? on os 4.1( coz obviously i cant update coz my iphone is not factory unlocked so i rely on ultrasnow) i tried to use the latest redsnow, but if i choose the ipsw for the 4.1 it doesnt show the deactivate method i think the method is only for 3g and 3gs users, then i tried the second method, but my question is i can download and isntall openssh, but where is secure shell? and stockify? pls can anyone elaborate on how to use stockify? or where can i find it? thanks!

Nah, the jailbreak will remain. it will only do the extra step of de-activating the phone. nothing get erase everything stays on the phone the way it is. except now, you have to go to the New SAM/SAMPrefs and click deactivate iphone, so the new SAM can take over. afterwared it should say Wilcardactivated, of if when you plug the phone itune says no sim or no activated sim go back into settings and click SAM and click Method and Pick by country, whatever metho works for you.
so just to clarify,
If my iPhone was jailbroken using PwnageTool then I can just run Redsnow and use any ISPW file for my current FW and it should be fine even if Redsnow is telling me to put my phone into DFU mode?
So,are we able to use this on all 4.0 fw onward phones following the same instructions? Or is this just to replace the recently released unlock? If it doesnt work for us are we still able to revert back to our previous unlocking method? Lastly, do we have to worry about any hassle from iTunes/apple if we use this?
This works on all iphone starting with FW 3.0 +
its just a new way of hacktivating the phone by tricking itune into releasing a proper certificate, for your phone without needing a new ATT Sim card for Stock activation. ( not an actual certificate, but kinda like saying, yes here is the code go head and let the phone be activated) This doesn't unlock the phone. it just activate the phone to use for a carrier like AT&T then after running ultrasn0w, you can use it with TMoible. and since your phone was already unlock with ultrasnow, you don't need to re-run that again. thats why you run Musclenerd updated the new Redsnow to 9.6b6 so to add the de-activate and keep everything same with rejailbreaking the phone. Well my phone seems to work fine with itune i just keep click no need to update to 4.2.1 right thank you very much.
