Apple 2025 Sales Tax Holiday: Dates, States, and Eligible Products

Apple has detailed its participation in the 2025 back-to-school sales tax holidays, offering customers in nine U.S. states the chance to buy select products tax-free. The promotion, which runs on specific dates in July and August, applies to purchases made both online and at Apple's retail stores.



Here is a breakdown of the dates, eligible products, and limitations for each state.


Alabama: July 18–20
The total sales price for all items cannot exceed $750. Computer accessories like keyboards, mice, and speakers only qualify if sold with a computer and the total remains under the $750 cap. Local taxes may still apply. Eligible products include Mac computers, iPad models, and non-recreational software. Qualifying accessories include keyboards, mice, Apple Pencil, speakers, monitors, printers, and storage media.

New Mexico: July 25–27
The exemption applies to computers with a sale price of $1000 or less. Related computer hardware, including accessories such as speakers, printers, keyboards, and mice, with a sales price of $500 or less also qualify. Eligible products include Mac computers and iPad models under the price cap, as well as accessories like Apple Pencil, displays, and storage devices including Apple TV.

Tennessee: July 25–27
The tax exemption applies to computers and qualified accessories with a total sales price of $1500 or less. Accessories such as displays, keyboards, and speakers must be sold with a computer to qualify. Eligible products include Mac computers, iPad models, and bundled accessories.

Ohio: August 1–14
Any single item with a sale price of $500 or less qualifies for the tax exemption. If an item costs more than $500, the entire amount is subject to sales tax. Customers can purchase multiple qualifying items tax-free, even if the total exceeds $500.


South Carolina: August 1–3
This holiday covers computers, printers, printer supplies, and non-recreational software with no price limit. Accessories such as displays, keyboards, and mice are only exempt when purchased with a computer. AirPods, headphones, and flash drives qualify if purchased for school use. Eligible products include all Mac computers, iPad models, and Apple Vision Pro.

Virginia: August 1–3
The tax exemption in Virginia is limited to cell phone chargers and batteries with a sales price of $60 or less.

West Virginia: August 1–4
The tax exemption applies to laptop and tablet computers with a sales price of $500 or less. This includes iPad models that fall under the price cap.

Arkansas: August 2–3
There is no sales price limit for qualifying items, which include all Mac computers, iPad models, iPhone models, Apple Vision Pro, printers, and accessories such as keyboards, mice, displays, and Apple Pencil.

Massachusetts: August 9–10
Any single item with a sale price of $2500 or less qualifies for the tax exemption. If an item's price exceeds $2500, the entire amount is taxable. Customers can purchase multiple qualifying items tax-free in a single transaction, even if the total cost is over the limit.
