I tried your method after numerous attempts and finally got it to recognize the SIM but it will not access the internet without wi-fi? Did you have this problem and if so how do I fix this???

I tried several different ways to make my unlocking work. Here is what I did (on my 4th iteration) and it ONLY deals with removal/placing of sim cards 1) Shift+Restore method WITHOUT ANY SIM CARD 2) Place desired sim card in Only AFTER: Shift+Restoration is done AND you close iTunes follow the all other steps as written above. great work. cheers.

you my friend are the man. i use quickpwn like ten times now and not once could i find out what the f i do with the sim cards. your method worked like a charm. i kept putting the tmobile sim in after the process was done and it was telling me unreconized sim. putting the 3rd party sim in after the restore but before quickpwn is genius

great tutorial. an important thing that i think should be mentioned is the CLOSING OF ITUNES after doing the restore, befor estarting quickpwn. also, i too ran into the error with the sim card being different. i did what one someone did before. pretty, much, i had to start from the step of restoring the phone to the 2.2.1 software on itunes. i did this with an att sim that was used in the phone before starting the process so it could be recognized). then, as soon as i disconnected from itunes i put in the t-mobile sim. i did quickpwn steps with the t-mobile sim card and then the phone was ready to go! thank you for the great tutorial

do you have to use the original sim card when updating (restoring) the iphone and trying to activate it? as i only have an o2 sim card and not the original sim! please help thanks
paui
paui - May 10, 2009 at 3:40am
no. once you're done upgrading the fw itunes, it will lead you to app store and, naturally, it won't recognize your sim card. eject your iphone from your itunes, close itunes, and run quickpwn. just follow the instructions on this site. :)

NEW SIM CARD DETECTED Message EMERGENCY CALL ONLY screen??? I KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS ISSUE!!!!!--- Okay there are some people saying to switch SIM cards before QuickPwn. LISTEN TO ME AND YOU WILL HAVE YOUR PHONE UP AND RUNNING. Okay, During STEP 2 have your ATT sim card in your iphone when you hit your SHIFT RESTORE. While your computer is extracting the file quickly place your T-Mobile SIM CARD. Let your iphone restore while your t=mobile sim is in the iphone. Continue to follow the instruction listed above and trust me IT WORKED FOR ME!!!

hi, I have unlocked my iphone after a very long time. Try downloading Ziphone GUI 2.5. You need to downgrade your bootloader baseband which can be found under advanced features. let me know if you got it. For the amount of irritating days i spent trying again & again , i think I can write a book by now!

I noticed when I upgraded itunes this morning they are on version 8.1, will this matter if I am upgrading from 2.1-2.2? Or should i wait for dev team to put out a new update before i screw up my phone?
