New York Times: Google Voice Search is 'Definitely Smarter' Than Siri

The New York Times has published an article this morning criticizing Siri's performance as a personal assistant.

Over time, things have really soured between Siri and me. We barely speak anymore. And, although she doesn't know this, I've started seeing someone else. Her name, although not as mysterious or sexy, is Google Voice Search.

Google Voice Search, available in the latest operating software for Android phones, is a much better listener. It's definitely smarter. If I ask Google Voice Search a question, like, "Who is Tim Cook?" it responds with an answer. (He's the chief executive of Apple.) If I ask Siri the same question, the response is: "I don't see Tim Cook in your contacts."

Recent comparisons between Google and Siri have also put Google on top. Apple is updating Siri with improved results; however, the NYT argues that it is Siri's understanding of your question that is the problem not its ability to produce a result.

Siri has been out for a full year it would be extremely sad for google voice to be dumber than siri. how close of a competition would it be if both platforms unveiled their phones on the same day?

How about you lock the screen and see witch one is faster oh wait the u can use it from the lock screen on the nexus. So if you think about it they are about the same speed.

I have iphone 4s as main phone and galaxy s3 as secondary and I will have to agree the new google voice assistant is smarter than siri

LOL I just asked my iPhone 4S & it brought up his age, DOB, birth place, picture and said he's a business man. doesn't even mention apple or anything special about him

Where is the new innovations. All we are seeing is a product that has been out in apple since last year. And what we are comparing is a modified version on google. Where is the originality. Also IT'S IN BETA

LOL! Google's Voice Search has been available for android for YEARS. i was using it on my modified HD2 and even then it was very good. It's had a big upgrade in Jelly bean & as a Nexus 7 & iPhone 4S owner Google Voice Search is much better

It kills me how stupid these comparisons are and the fact that they made by ppl who are suppose to be smart. You are comparing a product that came out last year to a product that just came out. So what does that say about Siri is that it is damn good. Fucking idiots.

Siri is basically front end connected to a life database. Google does better in this demonstration, since most of the tests where internet search related and google is an internet search program. This comparison was mixing apples with oranges -more like lemons-
