The latest iPhone SDK agreement now forbids developers from jailbreaking or creating apps for jailbroken phones, according to an ArsTechnica report.
The new iPhone Developer Program License Agreement states the following:
(e)You will not, through use of the Apple Software, services or otherwise, create any Application or other program that would disable, hack or otherwise interfere with the Security Solution, or any security, digital signing, digital rights management, verification or authentication mechanisms implemented in or by the iPhone operating system software, iPod touch operating system software, this Apple Software, any services or other Apple software or technology, or enable others to do so; and
(f) Applications developed using the Apple Software may only be distributed if selected by Apple (in its sole discretion) for distribution via the App Store or for limited distribution on Registered Devices (ad hoc distribution) as contemplated in this Agreement.
This means that registered developers can no longer jailbreak their own phones or help others to jailbreak their phones. Developers are also forbidden from using the iPhone OS, SDK, and any other developer tools to create applications that are distributed anywhere but the App Store or via Ad Hoc distribution
Apple are really begining to p*ss me off ..and to be honest I am now looking for another solution, the Skype application was the straw that broke the cammels back .. not allowing it to run in the background or to allow calls over 3G ... just stupidity .. There are just too many restriction from apple on the iphone that is stopping it from becoming a really useful tool, but now its just a very shiney gimmick ... so I think soon there will be a mass exodus as soon as something just as shiney, but useable comes out ..... Goodby apple from me ...
Heck Yea! There is nothing that would stop me from using EVERYTHING that my iPhone is capable of. I have a 1st gen- paid $400 and I am STILL getting my moneys worth. Its been jailbroken.. I can do things with my phone that are astonishing to my newly-converted iphone friends. WHY WOULDNT I JAILBRAK IT?!?
Apple: minimum effort on minimum options for maximum profit.
once again, there are basic, free-phones via any wireless provider that have options the iphone should have had right out of the box since 1st gen. heaven forbid people who have been used to these features want them on their shiny new toy. camcorder? zoom with the camera? MMS? hell a customisable skin/GUI ? my cheap ass motorola did all of this.
apple's just becoming more and more blatant in their efforts to quash people from making their product actually WORTH the 400 + dollars it costs to own their damn fone.
Haha, its like giving an iPhone to willitblend.com and tell them not blend it... but then again will-it-blend? Let's find out!
Stupid Apple, telling devs to not do what they're best at!
Ha, I'd still do it, why shouldn't I make the most of my iPhone just because Apple can't make what we can due to legal stuff. Like I and some other people say, what Apple (or some person) doesn't know, can't hurt us!

This is just stupid. Apple doesn't like it because there are great apps on Cydia, Like Cycorder and Winterboard. Unless they implement all these great features in another version which cydia offers, nothing will stop the jailbreak community.
Also whats with MMS not working on the original iPhone. It has worked for ages on my original iPhone thanks to swirely mms :S.
.:T:.
Apple can place any conditions they like, but they may not stand up to legal challenges. If Apple make their development software available to a developer, I can't see how they can successfully prevent a developer doing what he/she likes with it. Apple can say that if we find out a developer has been developing for Jailbroken phones, then we won;t let them publish to the Appstore, but hard to see how they can defend just saying "you can't develop jailbroken apps", especially when Jailbroken has not been found to be illegal in a court, it's only stated to be illegal by Apple.
Let the court challenges roll on. I maintain that Apple needs the jailbroken community, and they know they need it. If you'd like to see my arguments read my article here: http://clivesiphone.blogspot.com/2009/02/dear-apple-jailbreaking-illegal-give-me.html
