What concerns me about this turn-of-events, is whether or not my NEST equipment will continue to be iOS user friendly or will succumb to the stupid little OS war between Apple and Google. My NEST thermostat and CO/Fire monitor were incredibly easy to install using my iPhone and my home WiFi network. I wouldn't want this sacrificed to bring in Android platforms as well. I also don't want Google snooping on when I'm home as I'm sure they will so they can sell my comings/goings to their advertisers.
