Well, the "old" icons were so intuitive, no guidelines were needed. Now with this "new" style, Apple has to post guidelines on how to make text look like buttons.. go figure.
Well yeah sine the beginning of this iOS to the 6th one slowly got newer things one by one, people got used to it easily until the 7th. Not that it is bad.
