Apple and Google Agree to Drop All Current Patent Lawsuits Against Each Other

Apple and Google have agreed to drop all current patent lawsuits against one another. The lawsuits involved Google's Motorola unit, which is now being sold to Lenovo.

“Apple and Google have agreed to dismiss all the current lawsuits that exist directly between the two companies,” the companies said in a joint statement. “Apple and Google have also agreed to work together in some areas of patent reform. The agreement does not include a cross license.”

Motorola sued Apple for patent infringement in 2010, after which Apple countersued. Google inherited the suits when it purchased Motorola in 2012. Until today, the companies were battling it out in about 20 lawsuits in the U.S. and Germany.

An Apple spokeswoman told the WSJ that the deal doesn't affect the company's patent litigation against Samsung. While Google is frequently mentioned in those cases, it's not formally a party to them.

It's thought that Google may have been motivated to settle after regulators criticized Motorola for pursuing injunctions against Apple based on patents it was required to license out. Apple may have lost incentive to fight due to the sale of Motorola to Lenovo.

From the beginning and even now appples strategy is very simple - " IF YOU CAN'T BEAT THEM, JOIN THEM ". And they have been really successful in it and they will continue to do so. In same manner , They have hired few of the known "iOS jail-breakers" earlier, cause they were unable to beat them. Such a failure for one of the known mobile OS and 1000s of programmers. HAHAHAH ROFLXXX

Not as simp,e as Samsungs plan- "why wait when copying is out only direction. Let's not think and just let the strong minded win while we just take." Which clearly explains their existence as much as yours. Jailbreak or not, I am happy without jb for one thing but what about making an os good enough, what about lag, how easy it is to use, how much faster compared to others? You're telling us you think you're such a smart ass wannabe over something you despise? More like desperately act like you know. You were unable to figure your own shit out and lives on to this day, but if you think you can educate yourself then go ahead, where is apple losing to such a sore bitcher? Not to shocking of a failure compared to infected os as much as your brain is running android like the rushed employees shipping all these unstable toys. HARHARHARHAR LAWLAWLAWLAWL XDXDXDXDXD

Looks like apple is about to "borrow" a lot more from Android.
