The New York Times has posted an extensive profile on Apple CEO Tim Cook revealing some details about his past and his management style at the company.
Some highlights include comments from employees on Cook's role in the development of the rumored iWatch.
Lower-level employees praise Mr. Cook’s approachability and intellect. But some say he is less hands-on in developing products than his predecessor. They point to the development of the so-called iWatch — the “smartwatch” that Apple observers are eagerly awaiting as the next world-beating gadget. Mr. Cook is less involved in the minutiae of product engineering for the watch, and has instead delegated those duties to members of his executive cabinet, including Mr. Ive, according to people involved in the project, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to press.
In order to help him fill the void left by Apple's co-founder Steve Jobs, Cook is reportedly amassing a team of individuals.
Mr. Cook is amassing a creative brain trust, according to Bono, the lead singer of the band U2, who befriended Mr. Jobs and worked closely with him and Apple’s team on developing a U2-branded iPod, as well as on charitable work in Africa. Mr. Cook is not saying “I’m here to replace him,” said Bono, who is a managing director and co-founder of the venture capital firm Elevation Partners. “He’s saying, ‘I’ll try to replace him with five people.’ It explains the acquisition of Beats.”

i agree with the sentence "I’ll try to replace him with five people." some people born with a special dot in their brains, and there is nothing other normal humans can do it to ignore them, because their will highlight themselves with their creativity, and usually this people have a capacity to manage diferent situations at the same time. SJ was clearly one of these brilliants from our generations, he was able to dream, create based on his dreams and catch our attention. off-course this people catches also the attention of the loosers, which works very hard and on the end gets nothing to show. TC will never been, and Apple will never get such a genius in their company, the solution is only manage the company has any other company, with a leader which is embraced with different specialists to develop their products. if this specialists are mind-blocked, then it is the job of the leader to replace them, there is no other way, there will be not another genius in our time that will fill the hole left by SJ. unfortunatly "The world is full of kings and queens, Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams, It's heaven and hell" Ronnie James Dio RIP
Its nearly impossible to replace someone, but Tim Cook is doing a increadible job. He is keeping Apple alive, and together. And for those those who keeps on demanding new products, they should know products are not developed in just a year, it takes years to come up with a perfect product that is useable and leaves a long lasting effect. Tim Cook is the leader that Apple needed after Steve Jobs.
once more, a product change development is not created in one year, all the Apple products that we can buy today are still from the SJ time, or at least kicled-off by him. doesn't mean that TC did not put is finger on it, for some tunning. but new products from pos-SJ there is still none.
