Tobby, did you get your iphone working??? I think I'm in the same situation (OTB 1.1.2 with 4.6 bootloader). I'm following the instrucitions, but I get the same error message as you. I've done it about 6 times now.
***Is this a factor?...when I enter the *#307# command, I'm not able to backspace to enter the "0" key....anyone else?
Otherwise, this is a FANTASTIC site!!!

I'm having the same problem as Tobby, I installed manually the Oktoprep and still having the message "This utility can only be used if you have already run OktoPrep before udating to 1.1.2"... I have tried with Itunes 7.6 and 7.5 version... as described on this tutorial. Someone please help!!! Thanks in advance.

Tobby, you might press on Update with the "shift" key and not on restore. That's why it did not work, because by doing restore, you cancel the OctoPrep work by erasing everything.
hope this helps

Ok when you said Manually you mean install from Installer? Wich i have done, But if i do that will i see an icon on the screen? once i have install what do i do with it?
Now once i do the restore/update to 1.1.2 all of that stuff gets delete anyway and im stuck with a none jailbreak phone because went i go back to jailbreakme.com it wont do anything since that only works with a 1.1.1 phone.
PLEASE to the maker of the guide please please update the guide its confusing for morons like me.
And if some1 can help me please add me to AIM: tobby2k4
Thank you

I got the Oktoprep error. Had to go back to the start - recover back to 1.1.1 then install Oktoprep manually after jailbreaking and activating it (so before upgrading to 1.1.2) it won't work otherwise. I don't think this intstruction is very clear in the notes...confusion comes from someone saying it's automatically done for you. I'm all sorted now.

Hello everyone.
I just lost one hour of struggle with iPhone, to see your comments and realize that OktoPrep you HAVE TO install manually.
Nothing to worry about, you just have to do ALL steps again. And install OktoPrep manually.
Seems jailbreakme.com wont help with it. So maybe please authors of that tutorial consider adding that important note :)
Just finished jailbreaking on 1.1.2. All successful. Now time for unlock with GeoHot's magic :)
Greetz.

Tobby, make sure you run oktoprep in 1.1.1 and then hold shift and UPDATE in itunes, you may have to boot the phone with the jailbreak app before actually jailbreaking it. I still cant get my iphone working i made a big mistake by restoring it to 1.1.3 and now i'm lost, i followed the guide and now my steath sim or turbo sim wont work, i'm told its because of the firmware, can anyony help?

tobby: you have to install oktoprep before you update to 1.1.2. you'll probalby have to start over from the beginning. this is a note in the tutorial about this read carefully.

Ok at the end (step 4-5) im still getting the same error "This utility can only be used if you have already run OktoPrep before udating to 1.1.2
Is it because i need to run it on 1.1.1 and after 1.1.2??
Also this is what i done install Apps with thru safari install>oktoprep(under 1.1.1tweaks), If i install oktoprep why do i have to run oktoprep from my pc?

Fantasatic guide.
I managed to get to hitting the 'Jailbreak' button. I then get a message that reads "An unrecoverable error was encountered during the jailbreak. See console for details".
Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi. The same error as Neal and FBT. I then installed oktoprep myself and could go on.
I think this new version is still buggy. I had to try to download installer 3.0 A LOT of times... And after that, my iphone didn't have the packages on screen. I had to reinstall intaller 3.0 from iphone itself and then reload. Then I could grab the oktoprep...
Thanks any way.

Hey FBT and NEAL. Please see my comment dated "2008-02-04 15:32:36". The way I was able to do it was to install oktoprep when I downgraded to 1.1.1. So you may have to start over by downgrading back to 1.1.1, then install oktoprep from the installer, then upgrade to 1.1.2. If you need any help, please let me know. You can email me at cscott784 at gmail dot com.

Hey Kenneth, I got stumped with the same situation that you're in a few times as well. I didnt bypass it the way Todd suggests, but I guess its worth a try. The way I bypassed that was to connect the ipod to the pc. If iTunes is open, close it. Then put the phone in restore mode by holding the home and power button at the same time. Once the screen turns black, release the power button but still hold the home button. THEN START ITUNES. As you're still holding the home button, you will be greeted witht he itunes and charge symbols on the screen. iTunes should then detect. If it does, you can release the home button. At that point you can begin from step 2 of the tutorial. These steps are actually the first few steps in this great tutorial. Hope this helps - Evocre8r

Kenneth...i got sorta stumped here too...click the top one...it should say something about activate as a new phone not restore whatever you named your phone..click there, it asks you to rename the phone but it was still what i had named it before and then you have the two options that you need to select from. I was worried I had to do all the billing stuff again but that wasn't the case...
anyone reading this i know there's a jailbreak for 1.1.3 now, I installed mine last night but I'm starting all over again tonight because the apps i really wanted don't work on the jailbreak i used. the main reason i did this to my phone was to use a chat app like apollo but it doesnt work on the 1.1.3 firmware

Gamera,
Im pretty shure that i was pressing Upgrade, and not restore. But Tnx anyway:)
Hey evocre8r, :)
Tnx! But I still got a problem.. I can't begin all over again, because my iphone is allready named, and can't find a restore- or an updatebutton. I'm very unknowledged when it comes to i-elektronics and programs, so i don't know how to downgrade it again. Do you know how I can can restore, and delete all the programs on it, so I can just follow the walktrough?
