iCloud.com Photos Web App Currently Experiencing Technical Issues

Posted January 2, 2015 at 7:33pm by iClarified
The photos app from iCloud.com has mysteriously disappeared for some users and is currently experiencing technical issues.

While the application is missing for some users on iCloud.com, navigating directly to the Photos app URL also results in an error. We were able to have the application successfully load; however, it was very slow and eventually threw us an error.

The iCloud Photo Library was initially slated to launch alongside iOS 8, but Apple delayed its rollout until iOS 8.1

Apple has yet to update its System Status page to reflect any outages, but we'll keep you updated on when the photos app returns!

Update: The service seems to be restored for some users

[Thanks, Jacob!]

I tried iCloud photo at the beginning. It didn't work for me. I went with Amazon Cloud instead. Works as it should and doesn't mess with the photos and videos on my devices. Also works with Android, and Windows, so I've got all the bases covered

iCloud didn't work for you because you don't know how to use it, simple as that. I have DropBox and Box that automatically backs up my photos and videos. I use all three as to have options, it's all free.

It has nothing to do with user know how. The entire iCloud Photo Library project has been plagued by poor management. It was never sufficiently thought through. There are articles on this subject and the experts who wrote them know a hell of a lot more about it than you do.

Yeah i agree, I used to do photostream and then just use icloud backup when going to a new device, but now after trying the icloud photo beta, i've turned off photostream and icloud photos beta and don't have my camera backing up to icloud anymore, I just manually backup my photos using ifunbox then put them back on there and force the phone to do a refresh of the photos.
