LG will reportedly be the exclusive supplier of the dual lens camera for the new iPhone 7 Plus, reports Business Korea.
On June 8 an industry source told the site, “LG Innotek will exclusively supply dual camera module to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, which will come out in September this year."
The company is said to begin shipments of the module as early as this month. Other vendors may join the supply chain next year. Sony is the sole supplier of image sensors used by LG to produce camera modules for the iPhone.
Last month a report from Nomura's Chris Chang said that LG Innotek would supply a majority of dual lens cameras as Sony has reportedly fallen behind schedule.
Apple's expected to unveil the iPhone 7 later this fall. In the meanwhile, check out this rendering of what the device is expected to look like.
I'd say in the next ten years, the iPhones we currently have will eventually have a limit on whatever iOS versions it can handle and stop updating which means we don't have to worry about losing the jailbreak which all here as mentioned applied to iPad one, iPhones 2g-4, and any iPod touch probably before the 4th, so nu-uh no excuse either way. Did I forget to mention android can run on iPhone?
Dual lens are suppose to focus on distance and closer shots so the end result can mean capturing every detail of the entire image you're taking rather than blurring out everything else around the area of focus. The iPhone 7 plus is only getting because it probably means more space that make them work or Apple working out ways to compromise people's decisions like they did with iPad Pro: 12.9" with 4gb ram and laminated display and 9" with 2gb ram with laminated tru tone display (to match ambient lighting areas such as if it's blue or yellow).
An iPad already has that and has only happened in the iPad Pro, but for others, no. The iPhone 7 is said to be as thin as the 6s though and might not have a protruding camera or a somewhat protruding one judging from the photo.
What makes you think that these cameras will be limited to the iPhone 7 plus. The article says that LG will be the exclusive provider of the cameras but it does not say that those cameras will be limited to any particular phone.
