I found a hint regarding the SMS not sending problem. For me it worked fine and its a very funny thing.
step 1) put out the sim card and write a text message to yourself on your old phone (I had a samsung before)
step 2) receive this message and reply yourself.
Step 3) after sending switch off your phone very, very fast! You have to put the so
back into your iPhone and receive the message there. (I had 2 trials to success)
step 4) try to reply on the iPhone to the message. In my case it was not working, but all other messages I could answer again.
Hope this works for some of you too.

The Run_this program seems to have some bugs as it doesn't reads the version of my iphone and simply aborts. With iBrickr it reaches the very end and just starts all over again. I tried this with two different pcs.

Can anyone tell me how I can downgrade to 1.1.2 again? I made the soft-upgrade, but I don't like it. It's just too many bugs. I have a 1.1.2 OTB, so how should I downgrade the firmware? thanks

Upgraded to 1.1.3 with the new software hack, worked fine. However it seems that my wireless and email password doesnt take. I enter it, in the wirless settings, next thing i know its asking for my password. In the mail app, it tests the account, all ok, then says no password for my account. Anyone know why and how to fix?
thanks.

Hi, I have a 1.1.2 OTB jailbroken iphone, (with installer.app), but the script is not recognizing it:
"You have iPhone version .
Sorry! You must have an iPhone 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 with Installer.app installed. Press Enter to exit."
Any way to fix this? Thank you!

@Ursus:
No, it won't work! I have the very same problem as you... I can receive sms messages but can't send them, tried to update to 1.1.3 and the issue was not resolved.
By the way I had to switch back to 1.1.2 due to some other problems (my ultrasim suddenly begin to show NO SERVICE or NO SIM message).
I think I'll wait a little more to try again to go to 1.1.3 ...

To erase the huge file: open Transmit or any other FTP software you've got, and open a connection to your iPhone IP (settings/wifi/press the small arrow in the connection you are using).
Usrename: root, password: alpine
First time takes a little bit but it connects. Then you look for the file in /var/root/media/softupdate (in my case it was softupgrade) and you'll see a 300mb file.
Delete it and you've got your space back again.

Hello all, I have a jailbroken iPhone 1.1.2 and everything is running fine, except SMS. I can receive them, but I can not send any SMS. Will the Update to 1.1.3 like described here solve the problem? I´m a little bit afraid to make the update and then nothing will work.

This only works on Intel Macs - which had me stumped for a while as I was wrestling to get it working on my PowerBook. Once I tried it on my Mac Pro took me less than 10 minutes.

I've been reading reports that iPhone ringtones don't work after using this update. Is this true everynoe?

Can we delete the entire /private/var/root/Media/softupgrade/ directory once we're done?
For those having issues installing OpenSSH, try reinstalling BSD subsystem in Installer and rebooting your iPhone. Worked for me finally after I did that twice. Also note, your root password was reset to the default when you updated/jailbroke to the 1.1.3 firmware.

Success!!! Followed instructions, held breath at the installer soft update part... could take 5-10 minutes.
phone @ 1.0.2 -> 1.1.1 -> 1.1.2 -> 1.1.3

Everything is going well untill I came to the part where the script must upload the new firmware to my iPhone (1.1.2 OTB, jailbroken, installer.app installed, NextSim). Then the script reports the upload is finished but it takes less then a second to upload. And as aspected, after running 1.1.3 installer on the phone: no 1.1.3 is installed. Tried to install BSD-subsystem and OpenSSH (maybe the script uses that?) but no luck either. Anyone knows what's going wrong in my case? Thnx!

Yes for some reason seams that the update doesn't work when it is done in a mac.. to start with you have to launch the terminal and key the script in order to make run_this app to start. Then comes a message that the iphone is not 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken.. and it is is already jailbroken.
so not sure what to do. I would love to try the soft update which I can download from installer but I can not download the 1.1.3 from apple into the phone.
Hope you can CLARIFY to us. Thanks a million anyways for the good work.

I'd activated & jailbreaked a 1.1.2 OTB 2 days ago but unfortunately I can't use the Installer & Safari. When I try to install any app, a popup "Package download failed: can't find host." is displayed on the screen. So, can I jailbreak & update to 1.1.3 if the iPhone failed to install any app? Is there any solution/suggestion for my prob? Your help is very much appreciated :)

Hmmm...okay everything worked fine except can't uninstall OpenSSH to reinstall it nor Summerboard. And...when i get a call I don't get any ringtones at all. They don't even play in the general preferences.

FYI:
1) iPhone is NOT charging via USB after updating to 1.1.3 (from 1.1.1 / bb3.9).
2) Can't uninstall OpenSSH ('main script execution failed') - ergo, can't log in into the iPhone.
Good times...

The execution failed script error comes from an error in the fstab file. To avoid such an error, before doing the update, edit your /etc/fstab file and remove "noexec" on /var/private

It worked on my macbook like a charm !!! My 1.1.2 OOTB jailbreaked iPhone from US, has now a 1.1.3 firmware, and is making calls with a not AT&T sim by using the i3gSIM add-on ( www.i3gsim.com ) .
Well done to all the DEV Team and well done to iClarify for his SUPERB clear tutorials. Please go ahead and make us dream ...!!!
