CourseSmart has published a video demonstrating how students might use a tablet to study.
This video created by CourseSmart, a joint venture of five textbook publishers, shows how students might use tablet-based textbooks. It is based on their own renderings, not specific applications being developed with Apple.
CourseSmart plans to show this video at the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas later this week.

It seems this product lacks writing capabilities. Based on the video, it looks like you can buy or rent books to read on the tablet, which is not a brand new concept.
