A new version of the iPhone 2.0 Beta Firmware has been seeded to developers. The build is 5a225c.

Visible Changes:
- new icon Contacts on second page
- Appstore and iTunes store cannot be switched on via parental controls anymore

I did not say they did not do good work. I was talking about the way they go about their work. There are two different things. Apple does not lock the iPhone down simply because unlocked iPhones are still money and at the end of the day, Apple is a hardware company. For every iPhone that is unlocked, Apple can keep all of the proceeds and not share them with anyone. They make money from their partners and from guys like me that buy them and unlock them. This is a win-win for them. As for the encryption issue, you are completely wrong. I defy you or anyone else to crack, hack, smack, etc.... any military grade encryption. Considering I work for the govt and have first hand knowledge and experience with such systems, I can say with 100% assuredness that you are well off the mark. That is unless you have a Cray computer handy to crunch the numbers. So please describe this social engineering hack that you mentioned. By the way, it has been mentioned that many of these hacks for the iPhone have come from leaks inside Apple itself. This sounds very plausible considering how complex RSA and encryption schemes are.

dt: Don't you think the Dev Team has done some fantastic work? Why are you so negative? You think they are a bunch of kids...but you seem a little immature yourself. There isn't ANY secured digital media that hasn't been successfully hacked, from blueboxing to bluray ... if it was that easy to just "put military grade RSA" to use, then why haven't they already done so? Computers and computer programs are VERY complex systems, and there is ALWAYS a weak point or bug to exploit somewhere. And if not, then there is always the social engineering hack ...

@dean why would the dev team release the "hack" for the 1.2 firmware now? Just to give Apple a chance to fix the hack? You will have to wait like the rest of us when it's released and even longer until the 1.2 firmware is hacked and is safe to install. //Rob

The Contacts icon can be activated through the Customize App up to 1.1.3
