Does the communication only happen to apple during the restore process and not activation? I ordered but haven't received the 3GS yet. Thx!

I'm not sure what the rush is? It's not as if Apple can make any updates to my iphone or to my mac/itunes without my knowing? Am I missing something?

The amount of people who accidentally update to the next firmware version would surprise you...

and maybe I'm reading into this a lil too far (usually do) but I gather this key would remain valid as long as the device stays on the same version, or is it sounding like it would change once apple has something else to tie the number to... say, a pre-emptive cueing for the update or something. (and i know... I made that pre-emptive thing up too.) just curious.
