I read this wrong, this won't effect those who r eligible to upgrade so I'm in the clear for the 5 when it comes out, this is only for those still within the first year of their contract at the time they wanna upgrade, I had Verizon before they r bigger thieves than ATT

BULLSHIT!! "As mobile devices become more sophisticated, their cost goes up." That shouldn't change the fact that the phones on the list already fell into this category, so why charge $50 more now, months, even years later for certain models whose manufacturing process still costs the same?
AT&T is one of the greediest fucking companies, I have ever come across.
Typical sales, spin the jargon any way you need to, to justify you practices.

If you think that AT&T is greedy, wait until you deal with Verizon. YMMV, but on average, you will see the same net result with either company.

I agree, but in most consumers eyes, this will just be another reason to switch to Verizon.
