Apple continues to experience problems in launching their MobileMe service. A status update has been posted informing users of the situation.
The MobileMe transition is underway but is taking longer than expected. Please refer to the official System Status to the right for current information on the availability of MobileMe services. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Problems began when Apple extended its scheduled downtime for the .Mac/MobileMe transition to 2AM Thursday. Access problems continued throughout the day for many and as of Friday morning the service is still not fully functional. Issues are said to currently affect Mail and Web Applications.

I've had .Mac account for nearly a year now and have written it off as a bad decision..as google apps are available at no cost and much more reliable.
There is only one reason to pay for this type of service..and that is PUSH sync service to your iPhone. Everything else, such as storage, photos, bookmarking sync are all available for free.
