Just wanted to thank you for your tutorial. I attempted to unlock my phone using WinPwn prior to reading your tutorial -- the program crashed and left my phone in a non-operational state. I thought I had bricked the phone. I was using version 8 of iTunes. You can imagine my relief when I learned how to recover the phone. It's working fine now. Thanks again!

hello guys,
Noone mentioned problem with "No Service", I had 2.1 firmware and changed to 2.0.2, because there is no pawntool for 2.1 version. I did all steps described in tutorial, everything was fine, without any problems, but at the end I came up with "no signal" if anybody had same problem, please help me.

i did all the steps with version 1.1.2 iphone, upgradin to 2.0.2. the same exact thing happens to me - the screen goes white and blank and at the same time WinPwn freezes and my laptop ends the program...
even then i went to my Pwnage folder on my desktop and double clicked the custom iphone 2.0.2 restore and i restored my iphone on itunes. It does everything right and then at the very end it says that i don't have a supported sim card carrier. i have the AT & T sim card but i didnt activate it and im using another sim card cuz i live out of the states. what do i do then? whats the solution here? this is so annoyin please help.
future reference for anyone considering upgrading their iphone - DON"T DO IT. its fine the way it is if it was working perfectly before. DON'T UPGRADE IT. it causes way too many problems and now im prolly gona go to the apple store and pay a gazillion pounds to fix my iphone. thank you itunes, tellin me to upgrade my iphone and not sayin anythin about what exactly that means.

up and running.
from start to the end.
i f'ed up restored my phone to 1.1.4 and lost all my stuff. once again i f'ed up and updated it to 2.0.2
downgraded it to 1.1.4 using the tutorial from iclarified.com
using itunes 8.0 i runned winpwn 2.5 just as the tutorial above.
winpwn 2.5 crashed while preparing the phone to restore
opened itunes and restore it (shift+restore) selecting the custom ipsw created in winpwn 2.5
it took from 30 to 40 mins to finish it up
now up and running
thx a bunch to the team that made all this possible.

just a few comments...
it is written in pwn.hlp that this soft is supposed to be used to unlock and jailbreak iphones running on 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 (jailbroke and unlocked or not), so if you updated your iphone using itunes you will need to downgrade it and restart.
2nd it seems that this soft was written to work with itunes 7.7.1.1 i tried it with itunes 7.5 7.7.0.4.3 and with 8.0 and it crashed on step 23.
i'm trying right now to restore it in itunes using the custom file written, jumping a few steps of the tuto.

Solutions!!! - September 16, 2008 at 11:13pm
hey guys so i tried this a good 5 times and kepts getting stuck on 23 so i just gave it a shot and went on to the next step!
if you got to step 23 and your phone is in DFU mode,... that means the firware has already been written! continue to the next step and go to itunes and restore it. remember to press and hold shift and choose your file.
also, what i discovered is that if u have 2.0.2 firmware, you must have the 7.7.1.1 itunes not the .43 or whatever
hope this helps
let me know how its goes!
PS. have patience cause itunes takes forever to restore it! it took me a good 30 to 40 minutes

Hey! Since I keep getting stuck on step 23 (Winpwn crashes and my iPhone screen goes blank) I was wondering if it were possible to directly use iTunes to restore my phone, because I have the custom IPSW file. If that's possible, all I'd have to do is hold shift while clicking the Restore button on iTunes, right? If it isn't, can some please tell me how to fix the "crashing" issue? Thank you :) x

I had purchased an 1.1.4 OTB (out of the Box). I had jail broken it, unlocked it, and activated using ziphone. Now i updated the phone to 2.02 using the above method and let me say it worked perfectly and first time. Thanks for all the comments and for everyone who helped created this great software!!

today after several tries, I finally was able to succeed!!! I have my 2G iphone on 2.0.2, jailbroken, activated and unlocked.
Very important: keep itunes closed during the whole process until winpwn tells your iphone is ready to receive custom firmwares.
When restoring from itunes, be patient, it takes sometime to finish the complete process.
Great, I'm gonna start getting the most of appstore and cydia

HELPHELPHELP...I hope someone can answer this simple question. IS IT OK TO GO STRAIGHT FROM 1.1.3 unlocked/jailbroken 1st Gen iphone with T-MOBILE sim card to 2.0.1 using this method???? i ask because i read so many places with people getting bricked iphones from this upgrade/pwning. Do you have to restore iphone back to factory-type settings??? Or what, maybe upgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4, then to 2.0 or 2.01 or it doesn't matter? I'm not the most enlghtened individual so if anyone can help i'd appreciate it. P L E A S E
