Pod2g, the hacker who released an untethered jailbreak of iOS 5.1.1, says he is not currently working on a jailbreak of iOS 6.
About the iOS 6 JB : I'm not working on it ATM, sorry. I'm focusing on my job. Maybe discussions at #WWJC will generate ideas (?).
Notably, chpwn, a popular iOS developer, has already been successful in jailbreaking iOS 6. However, it's unclear when of if he intends to release it publicly.

Where is Geohot? back in days an iPhone comes out the jailbreak becomes available .
I just dont understand ,if POD2 charges $1 per download .He wil never has to work in his life time.
Pod2 why can't you make this as your day job?
You are good, people will pay you to have a jailbreak.
Ill pay you $100 even more for the jailbreak.
Very disappointing !! what are we going to do now?

I appreciate the work of hackers and hope that a solution can be worked out soon- the way i have been able to use my iphone 4 has made it such a joy. With my iphone 5 on the way i am concerned about going back into the dark ages. :\

With all the time all hackers spent and developed any jailbreak software for iPhones, yes, it should be a paid software. I agree on this 100%. pod2g mentioned that he needs to focus on his job, why not make this iPhone jailbreak project part of his job and start charging people for his work. I know most hackers like to show off their ability to crack codes and staff and give their work to public for free but they should consider making their hard work for sale and instead of for free.

instead of havinga a job i don't see why they dont just charge for services rendered to begin with. Do like $10 or $20 a jailbreak everytime there is a major ios update with all minor updates being free to previously paying customers.

I too love and use the tweaks you speak of. And I sure do hope someone will release a untethered jb in the near future. I imagine apple will release a few updates to ios in the next 2 months to work out bugs. Maybe once they settle down with the updates the jb will be released.

I have a feeling we won't see a working public ios6 jb anytime soon. Maybe towards the release of ios7.

See, that's the problem with giving highly creative people jobs!

Boy this is your job we will give you donations as a community to do this. What other job pays 150,000 plus for a jailbreak off of donations?

Brian - September 25, 2012 at 4:42pm
I highly doubt donations would replace his income. It would be a huge pay cut to do this.

They usually get $20,000-$40,000, not $150,000. Jailbreakme 2.0 donations gave comex $40,000 and 3.0 gave him $30,000. I don't know about the others,

Brian - September 25, 2012 at 5:59pm
Exactly, that needs to be split up amongst all members that helped with the jailbreak. And what happens if someone like hotz steps in and releases something under their noses. they might not get that much. There is no way they can make a living on just donations.
Respect them, allow them time to figure out a safe way to jailbreak the phones and don't rush them.
