AT&T users may have noticed a new Carrier Settings update in iTunes today. What are Carrier Settings Updates? From Apple's Knowledge Base
iTunes 7.7 and later has the ability to update the carrier specific settings on iPhone with iPhone 2.0 software or later. Carrier settings updates are small files (about 10k) that are downloaded from iTunes to be installed on your iPhone. The carrier settings can include updates to the default APN (how iPhone accesses the carrier's cellular data network), special dialing codes at Settings > Phone > [Carrier] Services, default settings for Stocks, Maps, Weather, and other items.
So what is in the update? After extracting the .ipcc file, we saw two new images. Both for AT&T's upcoming 3G MicroCell we wrote abouthere. The images will most likely be used to indicate if you are on the 3G MicroCell "Network."
(The other image is a grayed out version of this)
AT&T's 3G MicroCell might be coming sooner than we think.

I Agree, I already have a mini Repeater here just to get AT&T signal to my iPhone, NOW they want to Charge me for setting there equipment up to MY Broadband and Charge Me?.. Your Right, They should GIVE these to the people that are having trouble and not trying to Extort Money for what's already been paid for! And Now what to change LOGO's to make it fancy!.. This is a real trip on AT&T's Part..
i use PdaNet reguarly on a jailbroken phone. after updating to 2.2.1, PdaNet still works flawlessly. i know this doesnt answer your question, but it may help.
