BackToUp is an alternative tool to backup your iPhone without using iTunes.

Many people know that the iTunes backup is not good. Sometimes, you lost your contacts, SMS, etc. Thinking about this, I developed a tool called BackToUp. What it do, is create an alternative backup of your iPhone that is independent of iTunes.

The Program Will Make a Backup of:
- Contacts
- Text Messages (SMS)
- Bookmarks and History of Safari
- Call History
- Calendar
- Notes
- Bookmarks and History of Maps
=-General Preferences (ringtone, etc)

Also, BackToUp can:
- Create a backup
- Restore a device using a backup
- Erase backups
- Update a backup

You can download the command line tool from here

I would like to see something like fog is talking about as well. A full backup for the phone, including apps, and their settings including winterboard and supreme preferences. Everytime i update even when i use apt backup and a full backup on itunes. (even after using the guide at sleepers, modmyi. and others) i still have to change my winterboard themes and input other system string settings as well. And even have to download some other cydia apps that for some reason it doesn't back up. That would be nice. Just a full copy to a folder on the computer and then re-add it with the new update.

I am still looking for software that can back up a jailbroken iPhone by making a full disk image of the phone and then restoring that image in the event it's needed. This app does not appear to do that, so I'll pass.

What it do. Yeah that sounds good, I want this to back up my data. I have never lost data, you need to sync twice then all your info will be back. I believe it does certain parts the first time then the rest on the second sync, I have restored my phone a couple of times and each time it took two syncs. Not saying it won't lose date, there are numerous ways it could happen.
