Former White House press secretary Jay Carney is reportedly in the running to be Apple's next PR chief, reports Recode. Apple's been looking for a new PR head ever since Katie Cotton, the 'Queen' of PR Tech retired back in May.
Carney started worked for the Obama administration in 2011 before deciding to step down in June of 2014.
Former Obama White House press secretary Jay Carney (whose name is also being bandied about for the other big job opening in tech PR, at Apple).
Carney is also in the running for Uber's head of PR position. Earlier last month it was reported that Apple was looking for a friendlier, more approaching PR chief as several other candidates are being considered.

If Jay Carney comes to Apple, I wonder if it will affect Apple stock enough for investors to sell.

More like time to sell some gimmicks. Beats joined and so far, no problem, what can go wrong with this guy? Besides maybe he hated Obama.

Uh, and why exactly does Apple need such a high-power professional like Carney? This move is questionable since Carney is so polarized amongst at least half the U.S. population. Some would assume everything he said as Apple spokesman was biased and would assume the opposite of his statements was the truth. Carney would however be a fit for different media roles on obscure channels.

Jay Carney stepped down and now Apple is reportedly considering him for PR? I am not sure what Apple is thinking with this move.

Does the choice of Apple's PR chief impact the brand enough to make people consider switching to an Android device?

Why switch to android because this guy might come to apple. It's not his fault Obamas presidency turned out the way it did. He was only doing his job and what he was told to do and say. PR people are basically puppets that relay info about stuff that the person telling him what to say is afraid to do themselves. Getting him as a PR guy won't change what apple is about or their products. Most of what PR people say, no matter what company they're with, is "we don't comment on blah blah blah". It's stressfully having to answer a bunch of questions but it has to be a somewhat easy job.
