A video message from Apple SVP Angela Ahrendts to Apple Store retail employees has leaked online.
In the video, Ahrendts addresses some common concerns about the Apple Watch launch.
Highlights: ● Apple Watch orders are online only right now, will not be sold in stores on April 24th ● This was the first time Apple has previewed a product in stores two weeks before its availability ● Pre-orders will start being delivered on Friday ● MacBook launch is also very important ● Space Gray and Gold MacBook off the charts ● One of the best MacBook launches Apple has ever had ● Unique time, iconic blockbuster in-store product launches are not going away
Personal set up should not be forced upon customers and the way she hammers it in, it's like she doesn't want to single customer to walk out of there without personal set up. I personally would never want anyone else to open up a brand-new product I just purchased. I would rather open it and enjoy it fully on my time whether it's with friends, my tech guy, or by myself. it's a watch and it's Apple, if it's as easy to set up as Apple products and as Apple states then why all the extra work for personal set up? Sounds like Angela is worried about her job and it sounds like she's trying to make herself Leverageable. Too bad Ron Johnson is not still in that role, he would run circles around Angela.
The issue is without doubt the apple watch launch (not th watch!) is a bit rocky - where apple do well is creating the hype on day zero, it's that hype that continues long term. It's great selling a shed load of watches pre-order but will it continue....
She's a really great person with a great personality, but good lord. Apple needs to give her Public Speech 101 again. She used way too much hand movement and said "uhm" so many times.
I was listening to this on my iPhone 5s and was getting Extreme echoing feedback. Anyone else experience the same? Furthermore, I don't agree with her reasoning concerning Apple's desire to want to exclusively market it this way so that every customer can get a personalized in-depth hands-on experience and set up when they get their watches. Although this is offering great service, for many of us who feel we are techy enough to figure out and set up the watch on our own, it would have been nice for Apple to have had the supply on hand at the retail stores for those of us who would liked to have purchased it at the launch date!
