Apple has purportedly refused to repair a new iMac Pro belonging to Linus Tech Tips, a popular YouTube channel.

WE broke our iMac Pro... But then we tried to PAY Apple to repair it. They REFUSED. Come with us on a journey of frustration...

It appears that the issue involves Apple not having the support structure in place to facilitate out of warranty repairs on the new desktop.

Take a look at the video below for more details and let us know what you think in the comments. Have you experienced a similar issue? Should Apple repair their iMac Pro?

Your analogy of buying a new car and “accidentally” running it into a lamp post is incorrect. What you did is equivalent to a person who’s not an authorized repair person buying a Tesla, dismantling the entire car, putting it back together and damaging the engine of the car and asking them to repair it. Why would anyone trust that you put things back properly and aren’t going to have further issues with the product and ask for warranty to replace other parts. You make a YouTube video expecting us to feel sorry for you when you take apart things that have nothing wrong with them and make advertising money on your videos. I’m glad they didn’t fix it, if you want to take it apart, get someone who’s authorized or else take your chances.

First of all you are allowed to take apart products, and warranty void stickers are illegal. And if you would not repair products that only you can produce you violate consumer right to repair. (at least replacement parts should be accessible to their repair shops, I'm not talking about 3rd party ones). If you don't provide service and repair possibility, you are selling fraudulent product and services which is a big no-no, and might create a lot of legal issues.

As long as you behave like a fuckin’ douchebag and talk with that voice, I wouldn’t help you repairing that iMac. I am sure Apple would do everything they can to repair your iMac, if you wouldn’t do those damages with intention. Don’t be a smartass trying to fix something you don’t know how, and when you get stuck and are out of options, you blame Apple for not helping you. To be honest, I own a phone repair store, mostly iPhones, and since some of the clients think they are smart and end up screwing their phones, yeah, I too refuse to repair theirs. They see videos on Youtube, massacre their phones and in the end: hiya, can you fix my phone? Nope! Bye!

Serves them right for doing scammy crap and trying to pull Apple's leg. Next time be honest, upfront and come back with a legit hardware issue.
